Softball Game Preview: Hatton Hornets vs. Brooks Lions

The Hatton Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Brooks Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Monday, Hatton came up short against Lawrence County and fell 5-2. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hatton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyli Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Brooks faced off against Deshler on Tuesday. The Lions were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Tigers.

The result came thanks to Laken Wilcoxsen's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

At the plate, Baylee Darby was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Roberson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Brooks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deshler only posted a batting average of .095.

Hatton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14-1. As for Brooks, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8.

Hatton couldn't quite get it done against Brooks in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 6-1. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
