York beats Proviso West for their second straight win

Recap: York Dukes vs. Proviso West Panthers

The York Dukes won the last time they faced the Proviso West Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. York blew past Proviso West 49-12 at home. The result was nothing new for York, who have now won five contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

Sean Winton was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 121 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was George Kekos, who picked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The win makes it two in a row for York and bumps their season record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Proviso West (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for Proviso West, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.

York will be playing in front of their home fans against Homewood-Flossmoor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homewood-Flossmoor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 79th, while York is ranked eighth). Proviso West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
