Softball Game Preview: McLean Highlanders vs. Glen Allen Jaguars

The McLean Highlanders will face off against the Glen Allen Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (McLean 1, Glen Allen 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

McLean is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against South County by a score of 7-3.

Glen Allen came out on top against Mountain View on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Jaguars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Wildcats.

Jaidyn Tillman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Tillman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ila Goding, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Goding has posted since back in April. Another was Maeve Haun, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Glen Allen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for McLean, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 21-3.
