Basketball Recap: Hitchcock-Tulare Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Katelyn Schroeder and Emmerie Arthurs

Hitchcock-Tulare and Wilmot squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hitchcock-Tulare had to settle for second. They fell to the Wilmot Wolves 54-49.

Hitchcock-Tulare's loss came despite strong showings from Emmerie Arthurs and Katelyn Schroeder. Arthurs to rack up 16 points and eight steals, while Schroeder posted 18 points along with seven steals and five boards. Arthurs is becoming a predictor of Hitchcock-Tulare's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 4-2 (and 6-10 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Gilbert, who scored four points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hitchcock-Tulare smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Hitchcock-Tulare's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Wilmot, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Hitchcock-Tulare does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilmot, they will square off against Northwestern Area on Thursday. Northwestern Area will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Wilmot surely won't give up without a fight.
