Basketball Recap: Cameron Keach's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Legend over Chaparral

Legend lost against Chaparral back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Legend Titans fell 54-46 to the Chaparral Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Wolverines are ranked third).

Legend lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Keach, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 17 points. He is becoming a predictor of Legend's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 3-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Farley, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Chaparral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Williams, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 21 points and eight boards. Luke Howery was another key player, putting up 15 points along with five assists and three blocks.

Legend's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Chaparral, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Coming up, Legend will head out on the road to take on Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highlands Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. As for Chaparral, they will host Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral is facing Ponderosa at the right time seeing as Ponderosa is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
