Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Oak Grove

Oak Grove barely beat Central Davidson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies never let the Spartans get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.

Isabelle Lawrence was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eleanor Potter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Smith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Oak Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Davidson only posted an OBP of .083.

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Central Davidson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Oak Grove has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against North Davidson on the 1st. Central Davidson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
