Baseball Recap: Justin Garza Victorious

Justin Garza won the last time they faced Sanger West and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Guardians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets, sneaking past 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Guardians.

Luke Trukki made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Trukki wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bohden Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Smith a new career-high.

Justin Garza's record is now 5-13. As for Sanger West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Justin Garza will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sanger West: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
