Softball Game Preview: Eastern Alamance Eagles vs. Southern Alamance Patriots

The Eastern Alamance Eagles will face off against the Southern Alamance Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Southern Alamance will be up against a hot Eastern Alamance squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Eastern Alamance's pitcher stepped up to hand Orange a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Delani Straughan, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Orange off the board. Straughan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kayden Manning was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carley Boggs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Eastern Alamance hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Southern Alamance made easy work of Orange on Tuesday and carried off a 13-6 win. Considering the Patriots have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Southern Alamance and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Eastern Alamance, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Eastern Alamance came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern Alamance in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Does Eastern Alamance have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southern Alamance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
