Football Recap: St. Michael's Comes Up Short

St. Michael was the 20-13 winner over Grapevine Faith Christian when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors took a blow against the Lions on Friday, falling 77-44. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (42), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, St. Michael's still got an impressive performance from Nico Anderson, who threw for 439 yards and five TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score. Thanks to that big game, Anderson is now up to 13 passing touchdowns on the season. Pierce Kovacs did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 150 receiving yards.

Grapevine Faith Christian had a senior duo take command as Austin Cosby threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.8% of his passes and Noah Smith gained 159 total yards and four touchdowns. Smith showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 51 yards. Jacob Montes also helped with two scores in total.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Michael's and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

St. Michael's wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 47-42 victory against Antonian Prep on the 26th. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 69-35 win against Atlas HomeSchool on the 26th.
