Basketball Game Preview: Wayne City Indians vs. Flora Wolves

Wayne City and Flora are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Wayne City Indians will challenge the Flora Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

Last Tuesday, Wayne City came up short against Fairfield and fell 57-44.

Despite the defeat, Wayne City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rhyver Tibbs went 7 for 8 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Tibbs also posted a 88% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Walker, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Flora fought the good fight in their overtime game against Carmi-White County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to the Bulldogs.

Flora's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Wayne City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Wayne City took a serious blow against Flora in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 79-50. Can Wayne City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
