Basketball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Northshore Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Slidell blew Chalmette out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Chalmette got their revenge. Slidell fell just short of Chalmette by a score of 50-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Owls are ranked 242nd).

Meanwhile, Northshore came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.9 points), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged the Bulldogs out 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Bulldogs since January 12, 2021.

Northshore pushed their record up to 28-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Slidell, their loss dropped their record down to 20-14.

Slidell lost to Northshore on the road by a decisive 70-55 margin when the teams last played on February 4th. Can Slidell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
