The Canton Warriors will square off against the North Penn-Liberty Mountie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-30, which was the final score in Canton's tilt against South Williamsport on Thursday. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
01/02/25 @ South Williamsport | 14 |
12/19/24 @ Cowanesque Valley | 12 |

Loss or not, Canton got some senior leadership from Talin Williams and Ben Fitch. Williams posted ten points in addition to six boards and five blocks, while Fitch dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards set a new season-high mark for Fitch.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Penn-Liberty). They blew past Williamson 80-45 on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-19.
Canton better focus on containing Blake Oakley and Luke Kreger as the pair were huge in North Penn-Liberty's win. Oakley went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with six boards and four steals, while Kreger went 6 of 15 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Oakley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adynn Wheeland, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.
North Penn-Liberty was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The win got North Penn-Liberty back to even at 5-5. As for Canton, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Canton has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.7 boards per game. However, it's not like North Penn-Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Canton was dealt a bruising 64-36 loss at the hands of North Penn-Liberty in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Canton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
