Basketball Game Preview: Federal Hocking Lancers vs. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes

The Federal Hocking Lancers will square off against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Federal Hocking lost to New Hope Christian Academy at home by a 66-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 730th, while the Statesmen are ranked 289th).

Nelsonville-York has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 60-42 bruising from New Lexington last Friday.

Federal Hocking will have to contain Briant Call as he made an impact in Nelsonville-York's last game. He went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Call has posted since back in January of 2024. Alec Thompson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Federal Hocking's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Nelsonville-York, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
