Basketball Recap: Ropes Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

Ropes saw some tournament action on Saturday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 68-53 victory over the Brownfield Cubs. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Cubs are ranked 1007th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ropes has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Brownfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ropes will face off against Whiteface at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Whiteface will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Ropes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brownfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lamesa at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Brownfield is facing Lamesa at the right time seeing as Lamesa is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
