Recap: Mound City Panthers vs. Nebraska City Pioneers
The Mound City Panthers were the 78-65 winner over the Nebraska City Pioneers when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Mound City was dealt a 77-45 loss at the hands of Nebraska City on Saturday. Mound City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Nebraska City found their leader in underclassman Kaiden Klassen, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Klassen's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Hodges, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Mound City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Nebraska City, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.
Mound City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Nodaway at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Northeast Nodaway is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Nebraska City will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Conestoga at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Conestoga has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 4-1 during that stretch of close contests.
