Volleyball Game Preview: Payson Lions vs. Brighton Bengals

The Payson Lions will face off against the Brighton Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brighton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Payson, who comes in off a win.

Payson won the last time they faced Salem Hills and Brynley Nielson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lions came out on top against the Skyhawks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Nielson, who had 14 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Payson was actually outscored in aggregate across those four sets (90-89), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 13-25, 25-22, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Lone Peak, falling 3-0.

While Brighton ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

Payson now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.
