Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks vs. Palmer Ridge Bears
After soaring to 32 points the game before, The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were outmatched by Palmer Ridge on the road and fell 54-7. Cheyenne Mountain has struggled against Palmer Ridge recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Bruce iv Archambault threw for 104 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Tyler Kriss was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Derek Hester was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 61 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Holden Wright got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Cheyenne Mountain has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Palmer Ridge, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne Mountain will take on Coronado at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coronado is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Palmer Ridge, they will be playing at home against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Palmer Ridge is ranked seventh).
