Basketball Recap: Washington County Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Washington County had won two straight games and Christian Phelps did his part to make it three on Wednesday. The Washington County Panthers blew past the North East Carolina Prep Husky 70-49 thanks in part to Phelps, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. What's more, he also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, North East Carolina Prep still got an impressive performance from Chadwick Barnes, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. Barnes is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sessoms, who posted 11 points.

Washington County pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for North East Carolina Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Washington County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-42 victory against Bertie on the 14th. As for North East Carolina Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-54 defeat against Tarboro on the 14th.
