Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders vs. Penfield Patriots

The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders will take on the Penfield Patriots at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Solvay. The Marauders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Carson Mazur looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Giorgio Panepinto was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Elia, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Penfield had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out Fairport 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since April 2, 2024.

Adam Knight looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Penfield's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Natale, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win got St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute back to even at 2-2. As for Penfield, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
