Basketball Recap: Wekiva Comes Up Short

If Wekiva was riding high fresh off their 69-43 takedown of Jones last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wekiva Mustangs took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evans Trojans on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Evans was led to victory by David Rushing and Arosco Dubois. Rushing went 9 of 15 en route to 19 points and eight boards, while Dubois went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Dubois has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dewayne Dixon, who went 5 for 6 to rack up 10 points.

Wekiva's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Evans, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Wekiva didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-50 victory against Ridge Community on the 30th. As for Evans, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-46 win against Winter Park on the 31st.
