Baseball Game Preview: Splendora Wildcats vs. Dayton Broncos

The Splendora Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Dayton Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games Splendora has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Splendora didn't have quite enough to beat West Fork and fell 4-3.

Splendora saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Frank, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits Frank has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Wyatt Sepanio, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Dayton waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-2. That's two games straight that the Broncos have won by exactly three runs.

Sebastian Avila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Dayton's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyler Moreau, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Dayton is undefeated when Moreau posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Luke Ressler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Dayton's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Splendora, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
