Baseball Game Preview: HCYA vs. Mansfield Timberview Wolves

HCYA will be taking part in a tournament against the Mansfield Timberview Wolves at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. HCYA will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

HCYA is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 1, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Tomball Kings.

Rome Gatlin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, HCYA's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Hillman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Luke Parish also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Mansfield Timberview's offense. They lost 7-0 to South Grand Prairie on Friday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mansfield Timberview's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for HCYA, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
