The Mohawk Warriors will face off against the Monroeville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mohawk sitting on ten straight victories and Monroeville on 19.
Mohawk saw some tournament action on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Old Fort.
Mohawk had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Monroeville sidestepped St. Joseph Central Catholic for a 3-2 victory.
Monroeville wouldn't go down easily and took St. Joseph Central Catholic into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-9.
Mohawk better keep an eye on Addison Homan. She was instrumental in Monroeville's win, getting 35 digs and six assists. Homan has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more digs the last 26 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madyson Miller, who had 13 digs and two aces.
Mohawk's record is now 20-4. As for Monroeville, their record now sits at 21-2.
Mohawk skirted past Monroeville 3-2 in their previous matchup back in August. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
