Preview: Wyatt Chaparrals vs. Argyle Eagles
The Wyatt Chaparrals will head out on the road to face off against the Argyle Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wyatt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Argyle is ranked 92nd).
Last Thursday, Wyatt came up short against Colleyville Heritage and fell 28-21.
Meanwhile, Argyle had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They beat Creekview by the very same score they won with last week: 59-0. Argyle might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six matches by 30 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Argyle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Krekeler, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Argyle also got a significant boost from Chase Bagley, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.
Colleyville Heritage's victory bumped their season record to 9-1 while Wyatt's defeat dropped theirs to 7-3.
Wyatt took a serious blow against Argyle in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 63-0. Can Wyatt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
