The Mohave Accelerated Patriots will take on the Heritage Academy Heroes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mohave Accelerated is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against North Valley Christian Academy, falling 31-20. Even if the Patriots couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Cash Keller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Heritage Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let ALA - Anthem South get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Thursday.
Isaias Ruiz and Paul (PJ) Soltero made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ruiz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Soltero pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Academy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 3-8-1 when he doesn't). At the plate, Ruiz went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, while Soltero got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Soltero has hit this season.
In other batting news, Felix Melero Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Whetten, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Heritage Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-9-1. As for Mohave Accelerated, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
