Football Recap: Salem Beats Richton for Their Third Straight Win

Salem hadn't done well against Richton recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats strolled past the Rebels with points to spare, taking the game 30-12. The Wildcats' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Salem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Sanders, who threw for 125 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards on only eight carries. Sanders' longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jamyen Watler also helped with three scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Salem was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Salem's record now sits at 3-0. As for Richton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will venture away from home to take on Stringer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richton, they will head out to challenge St. Patrick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
