Basketball Recap: Dinwiddie Takes a Loss

After flying high against Meadowbrook last Thursday, Dinwiddie came back down to earth. The Dinwiddie Generals were beaten by the Chancellor Chargers 54-27 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Chargers are ranked 90th).

When it comes to explaining why Dinwiddie lost, don't look at Madison Batts. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points.

It was another big night for Natalie Lanning, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Chancellor. Lanning has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Lydia Brockelbank was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and four blocks.

Dinwiddie's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Chancellor, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Dinwiddie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-32 loss against Matoaca on the 23rd. As for Chancellor, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-53 win against Culpeper County on the 21st.
