Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Dark Horses vs. James Kenan Tigers

The Clinton Dark Horses will square off against the James Kenan Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully James Kenan likes a good challenge.

Clinton is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing South Lenoir: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Clinton blew South Lenoir out of the water with a 56-14 final score. The Dark Horses have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 42 points or more this season.

Clinton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Rubi Davila, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points, and Janiyah Simmons, who posted ten points and seven steals. Those ten points gave Simmons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiya Mosley, who had four points and five steals.

Meanwhile, James Kenan had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Midway by a score of 40-29 on Wednesday.

Clinton's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for James Kenan, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Clinton and James Kenan were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Clinton came up empty-handed after a 38-37 loss. Can Clinton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
