Softball Game Preview: St. Martin de Porres Lions vs. Lutheran West Longhorns

The St. Martin de Porres Lions will head out to challenge the Lutheran West Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Martin de Porres can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Monday. They lost 21-5 to Lorain.

St. Martin de Porres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Char'Rion Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Alisha Fluker was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Lutheran West gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Valley Forge 22-21.

The team relied heavily on Emerson 'Emmy' Hayes, who scored six runs and stole nine bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Kailyn Caster, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
