Basketball Recap: Cowan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Madison Norris and Savannah Hall

Cowan lost against Blue River Valley back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cowan Blackhawks fell just short of the Blue River Valley Vikings by a score of 34-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blackhawks have suffered since January 24th.

Despite the loss, Cowan had strong showings from Savannah Hall, who posted six points in addition to 12 rebounds and five steals, and Madison Norris, who put up ten points and seven rebounds. Those ten points gave Norris a new career-high.

Blue River Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Schmitt out in front who had 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Loveless, who posted nine points.

Cowan has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Blue River Valley, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8.

Cowan will take on Tri in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Blue River Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-18 defeat against Daleville on the 17th.
