Basketball Recap: Jordan Gray Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Churchill

North Eugene hadn't done well against Churchill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The North Eugene Highlanders walked away with a 63-56 win over the Churchill Lancers. This was payback for the Highlanders, who suffered a 61-60 loss the last time these two teams met.

North Eugene got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Gray out in front who went 6 of 15 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The match was Gray's third in a row with at least ten points. Grant Harris was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and five assists.

Churchill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Litten, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Litten has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Charlie Dexter, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and eight boards.

North Eugene's record is now 9-7. As for Churchill, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.

North Eugene didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-58 win against Eagle Point on the 24th. As for Churchill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-44 victory against Crater on the 24th.
