Recap: Independence vs. Briar Woods Falcons
The Briar Woods Falcons typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Independence proved too difficult a challenge. Independence narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Briar Woods 9-6. The win made it back-to-back wins for Independence.
One reason for the win was Independence's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Briar Woods' QB won't forget Nicholas Kellen anytime soon given Kellen sacked him four times.
Independence's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Briar Woods, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Riverbend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverbend presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Independence in Virginia (Riverbend is ranked 33rd, while Independence is ranked 117th). Briar Woods does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
