Baseball Recap: Tahanto Regional Victorious

Tahanto Regional took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Ayer Shirley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Stags narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 7-5. The game was the first time the Stags have beaten the Panthers on their field since June 3, 2021.

Luke Stevens made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Stevens was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Connor Rice and Nick Eck did most of the damage at the plate: Rice scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Eck went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Tahanto Regional has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Ayer Shirley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tahanto Regional will host Littleton at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Ayer Shirley, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Bromfield at 3:30 p.m.
