Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Patterson

Patterson came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Vermilion Catholic Eagles.

Mia Knight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Patterson let Jolie Thompson and Gabby Grogan run wild. Thompson scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while Grogan scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Thompson has posted since back in February.

Patterson pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Vermilion Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

Patterson will head out to face off against Catholic - N.I. at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vermilion Catholic has already played their next contest (against Westgate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
