Basketball Game Preview: Norwayne Bobcats vs. Chippewa Chipps

The Norwayne Bobcats will square off against the Chippewa Chipps at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwayne will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.

Norwayne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 64-23 victory over South Range. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.

Norwayne can attribute much of their success to Hannah Froelich, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Ava Maibach, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. The dominant performance also gave Froelich a new career-high in shooting accuracy (90%). Grace Wolf was another key player, putting up nine points.

Norwayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Chippewa came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 45-41 W against the Mustangs. That's two games straight that the Chipps have won by exactly four points.

Norwayne's record now sits at 22-3. As for Chippewa, their record is now 18-8.

Norwayne didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Chippewa when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 60-55 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norwayne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
