The Edinburgh Lancers will take on the Morristown Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edinburgh has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Edinburgh is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Crothersville by a score of 14-11 on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Milas Burkman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burkman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cole White was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Music, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Edinburgh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Morristown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Herron. While the Yellow Jackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Achaeans 5-0 in the first period.
Morristown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Edinburgh, their victory bumped their record up to 2-10.
Edinburgh skirted past Morristown 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
