Evanston and Lane Tech are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Wildkits will head out to take on the Champions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Evanston's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Lane Tech's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Evanston is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Lake Forest 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Wildkits in their matchups with the Scouts: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbrook North on Thursday and fell 2-1.

Bennett Levinson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Lane Tech saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teo Greco, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Rory Irwin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Evanston picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Lane Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Evanston suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Lane Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Wildkits avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
