Basketball Game Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Tyrone Golden Eagles

The Greater Johnstown Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Tyrone Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greater Johnstown is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Wednesday, everything went Greater Johnstown's way against Penn Cambria as Greater Johnstown made off with a 73-48 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Tyrone took a blow against Penns Valley Area on Wednesday, falling 74-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Golden Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Rams are ranked 295th).

Greater Johnstown's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Tyrone, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4.

Greater Johnstown and Tyrone were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but Greater Johnstown came up empty-handed after a 65-64 loss. Can Greater Johnstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
