Baseball Recap: Tombstone Finds Playoff Glory Versus Benson

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tombstone had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Benson Bobcats. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won three in a row.

DJ Elias was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Erik Koehler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Hank Moody was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Tombstone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Tombstone pushed their record up to 20-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benson, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-14-1.

Tombstone has already played their next game (against Phoenix Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Benson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
