Soccer Game Preview: Staunton vs. Spotswood

Staunton hasn't had much luck against Spotswood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Storm will head out on the road to take on the Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. Staunton will be strutting in after a win while Spotswood will be coming in after a loss.

Staunton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Rockbridge County get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Staunton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by four goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Spotswood was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to Broadway. Spotswood's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Spotswood's loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Staunton, they moved to 10-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Staunton suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Spotswood in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
