Softball Game Preview: Russell County Warriors vs. Rehobeth Rebels

The Russell County Warriors will challenge the Rehobeth Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Russell County not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th. They blew past Abbeville 16-6. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mikayla Heimbach looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Arveonna Randolph and Tenley Cotarelo did most of the damage at the plate: Randolph got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Cotarelo scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Cotarelo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Howard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Rehobeth made easy work of Northside Methodist Academy on Wednesday and carried off a 15-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

Maddie Williams was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Jessa Buker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Rehobeth hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Rehobeth's victory bumped their record up to 10-12-1. As for Russell County, their win bumped their record up to 3-17.
