Softball Recap: Rahway Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Rahway's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the St. Dominic Academy Blue Devils by a score of 11-6. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Amanda Lebers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rahway got a massive performance out of Danielle Maher, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Jaylynn Soto was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Rahway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for St. Dominic Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rahway will challenge Roselle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Dominic Academy, they will take on Lyndhurst at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
