Softball Recap: Ottawa Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bonner Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ottawa). They blew past the Bonner Springs Braves 16-8 on Monday. While the Cyclones didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ottawa let Abby Toumberlin and Kirby Evans run wild. Toumberlin went 3-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles, while Evans scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those two doubles gave Toumberlin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ainsly Michel, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Ottawa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Ottawa pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Bonner Springs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
