Football Recap: Maine East Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Maine East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were beaten by the Highland Park Giants 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Blue Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 485th, while the Giants are ranked 171st).

As for Highland Park, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.2 points over those games.

Gustav Crane had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (142.9). Lucas Gordon was Crane's top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and two scores.

Maine East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland Park, they will challenge Wheaton-Warrenville South at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
