Basketball Game Preview: Santa Paula Cardinals vs. Channel Islands Raiders

The Santa Paula Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Channel Islands Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Paula knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Channel Islands likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Santa Paula narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Foothill Tech 63-61.

Meanwhile, Channel Islands had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Rangers 60-36. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Channel Islands pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Santa Paula, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

Santa Paula was taken down by Channel Islands 81-45 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Channel Islands' JD Pettit, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds.
