Basketball Recap: Aziza Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Parkview over Brookwood

After flying high against Duluth last Tuesday, Parkview came back down to earth. The Parkview Panthers fell 60-53 to the Brookwood Broncos on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-48 back in December of 2024.

Parkview lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aziza Smith, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 14 points and seven boards. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jaden Cooper, who posted 15 points.

Parkview's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Brookwood, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Parkview won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dr. Phillips at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dr. Phillips will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Parkview surely won't give up without a fight. Brookwood has already played their next contest (against Duluth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
