Volleyball Game Preview: Ludlowe Falcons vs. Trumbull Eagles

Ludlowe hasn't had much luck against Trumbull recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Trumbull took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ludlowe, who comes in off a win.

Ludlowe took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wilton, sneaking past 3-2.

Ludlowe wouldn't go down easily and took Wilton into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 26-28, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Trumbull faced New Canaan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles came up short against the Rams, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: New Canaan scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-22.

Trumbull's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Ludlowe, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Ludlowe suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Trumbull in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
