Recap: United Longhorns vs. Jefferson Mustangs
Even though the Jefferson Mustangs scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the United Longhorns still came out on top. United blew past Jefferson 75-55. That's another feather in the cap for United, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nico Vela. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. The game was Vela's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Perez, who scored 14 points.
United's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Jefferson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. United's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marshall at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Jefferson, they will challenge Holy Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Holy Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
