Basketball Game Preview: Veritas School Lions vs. Spirit HomeSchool Warhawks

Veritas School and Spirit HomeSchool are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Veritas School Lions will welcome the Spirit HomeSchool Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Veritas School is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Randolph-Macon Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Veritas School lost 55-32 to Randolph-Macon Academy. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 108th).

Despite their defeat, Veritas School saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. London Smith, who posted eight points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Chandler Davidson, who scored seven points.

Spirit HomeSchool has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-64 heartbreaker at the hands of James River HomeSchool. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warhawks have suffered since December 5, 2023.

Spirit HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Veritas School, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Veritas School skirted past Spirit HomeSchool 60-57 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Will Veritas School repeat their success, or does Spirit HomeSchool have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
