Basketball Recap: Yuri Perez Key Part of a Team Effort in Bobcats Win

With a playoff win on the line, Edinburg rose to the challenge on Monday. They came out on top against the Veterans Memorial Chargers by a score of 32-22. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Edinburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Yuri Perez out in front who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Olvera, who had six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alondra Ruiz, who earned three points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Ruiz a new career-high in blocks.

Edinburg's win bumped their record up to 22-14. As for Veterans Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 30-7.

Coming up, Edinburg will take on Judson on Thursday. Judson will roll in looking for their 28th straight victory, something Edinburg surely won't give up without a fight. Veterans Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
